Here, nature is the main character and preserving it is our biggest commitment.

In addition to providing tourists an unforgettable visit, the Cataratas do Iguaçu S.A. focuses on developing activities for preserving nature. After all, it is located within one of the largest preservation areas of the protected Atlantic Forest in Brazil – the Iguassu National Park.

The respect for the environment was present from the start of the revitalization work of the area by using materials that have minimal environmental impact and can integrate with nature.

The concessionaire maintains a forest in the parking area and receives new typical trees every year in order to offset the carbon emissions generated by the company.

The same goes for the transport system used in the park, which uses a bus fleet that respects the legislation. It also uses advanced technology that is less aggressive to the environment.

With the implementation of the public transportation system, traffic was limited to tour buses and cars within the unit. This is to reduce the fuel burning, noise and possible trampling of animals.

Other conservation actions undertaken by the Cataratas do Iguaçu S.A. were: the establishment of a sewage treatment plant with capacity to treat 350,000 cubic meters per day, the use of self-closing taps to reduce water consumption, and the collection and separation of recyclable materials.

The use of recycling and biodegradable products, daily collection of organic waste and oil, and forwarding of medical waste to specialized companies are other measures of protecting the environment.

Awareness — Environmental education is also encouraged by the concessionaire. Information is transferred to the preservation officials, who in turn will pass it on to the tourists. Following this line of reasoning, the company exempts the transport cost of students, teachers and researchers from the 14 municipalities neighboring the preservation area, who attend the school Escola Parque.
